Abstract
The aim of this bachelor thesis is to create a bronze model of the Poruba campus of the Báňská University - Technical University of Ostrava (hereinafter referred to as VŠB-TUO) in a scale of 1: 1000, which is intended to serve as a decorative object and at the same time as an orientation aid. My inspiration came from the models of the cities, which can be found in Brno, Olomouc and in various foreign cities. The thesis is further divided into two parts – theoretical and practical.
In the theoretical part, we will deal with history of VŠB-TUO, then we will focus on evolution of painting and graphic depiction of cities and architecture, and finally on creation of miniatures or maquettes.
The practical part is devoted to technological process of making the model of the campus. This process includes primary design, production of the foundry model, production of the mould and actual casting of metal. The production of the foundry model is based on 3D printing technology, therefore the practical part will describe the procedures of making virtual 3D design, printing on a 3D printer, converting of printed plastic model into wax model via negative silicone rubber imprint and at last production of plaster mould and casting of metal into it
