Abstract

This Bachelor thesis focuses on human capital and observation of its influence on economic growth. After defining the key terms of both human capital and economic growth, it deals with the theory of human capital, which is connected with Theodore W. Schultz and Gary S. Becker, followed by a theory of economic growth, which mostly focuses on neoclassical model of Robert Solow and Trevor Swan, and endogenous theories of growth. The middle chapter deals with empiricism of influence of human capital on economic growth and therefore includes results of selected studies that analyse these issues from microeconomic and macroeconomic points of view. One of its components is also a list of possible indicators of human capital. The last chapter deals with the actual descriptive and correlation analysis of influence of human capital on economic growth carried out on two sample groups of different countries, which are developed countries of OECD and developing countries of Asia, where it puts emphasis on possible sources of data for the purpose of analysis of both sample groups.
