European Union Energy Security:
Caspian Region and South Caucasus Importance
My Diploma Thesis deals with EU Energy Security in reference to Caspian Sea and South Caucasus energy supplies diversification.
The objective of my Thesis was to identify Caspian Region and South Caucasus Importance for European Union Energy Security.
The second chapter treats not only the EU Energy policy but also 21st Century energy challenges. The most important EU‘s documents have been described.
The third chapter specifies the Energy Security and describes the energy profile of both regions. Three pipeline projects are introduced, that avoid Russia as a transit land.
The fourth chapter shows Caspian Sea status, Caspian players objectives diversification or South Caucasus conflicts as obstacles that obstruct the gas and oil supplies from Caspian Region to EU to flow uninterrupted..
The last chapter brings analysis of EU’s oil and natural gas production and consumption to find out, if the european demand could be satisfied with the Caspian reserves.
