Abstract

Bachelor thesis deals with the influence of ionizing radiation on the pacemaker and its components. The importance of such an analysis reflects the fact that people with implantable pacemakers are at risk due to possible damage to the pacemaker during radio therapy. The thesis is focused on detailed measurements of the characteristics of diodes, capacitors and batteries. Characteristics were measured before irradiation, during and after irradiation. We irradiated by 3Gr and 15Gr doses, a dose sufficient to evaluate the effect of ionizing radiation on the pacemaker. We designed and built circuit and software that have been used to measure characteristics. For measurements we used Boston Scientific - Cognic 100 D pacemaker, cobalt gamma emitter, measuring circuit VSB Ostrava BMENG Data Acquisition, personal computer and software for data acquisition in LabVIEW, the pacemaker programmer Model 3120 PRM from Guidant, function generator Tektronix AFG 302 and infrared camera. The measured values are processed and evaluated in MATLAB.
