Abstract
Project management areas with special adjustment to management in aviation industry are a subject of this thesis. Main goal is to evaluate the areas and point out the features that are unique for aerospace.
Example of a model company, Lufthansa Technik, gives a base for the evaluation as it is a typical aeronautical party. The company and the industry are described and the unique features presented and highlighted. There are also some typical project management actions described and presented on examples from aerospace. Even though the complexity of the projects is very high, there is one simplified project applied to show the special planning, risk mitigation and management in general. Central Planning Method, Work Breakdown Structure and Project Life Cycle are applied and adjusted to the needs of this thesis.
Thanks to the presentation of a typical event, it is visible that aeronautical industry is very challenging and solutions applied have to be tailored to every project. There is no room for mistakes and all stakeholders have to cooperate and be involved in every project phase. Areas such as management of risk, management of resources, controlling and planning are the most critical. In aviation, there is always room for improvement but before any changes are made, everything has to be tested and double checked.
