Abstract

Thesis discusses the development of advanced processing technologies of forgings from tool steels. The first part describes the properties of tool steels, depending on the chemical compositon, mechanical properties and the requirements for practical use. The following sections summarises analysis of literary knowledges in the field of manufacturing of tools steels, forging and heat treatment. The practical part of the thesis is focused on the evaluation of a new design of ingot and properties of final forging made from 56NiCrMoV7 tool steel. The evaluated parameters were chemical composition, notched impact strength, hardness, macrostructure, microstructure, micropurity and also determining the size of original austenitic grain. The results showed that the new type of ingot was in this case a suitable alternative to the existing one.
