Abstract
This bachelor thesis is focused on development of algorithm for automatic detection and measuring layers of skin and chosen geometrical parameters of hypertrophic scars after burn in ultrasound pictures. The output is SkinessMeter 1.0.0 software with simple graphical-user interface made by using MATLAB®. At the beginning the thesis is focused on description of skin anatomy, issues of skin burn and their clinical assessment. A constituent part of the theoretical part is ultrasound diagnostic and technique of measuring skin thickness. The practical part mostly deals with chosen ways of image processing which were chosen for the software development. It comprises preliminary image pre-processing, algorithm implementation for initial structuring multitresh Otsu method, image morphology and final creation of the graphical-user interface and it’s conversion to an executable application on WINDOWS platform. The final graphic-user interface enables to evaluate distances, thickness of skin and chosen geometrical parts required by a user. Software SkinessMeter 1.0.0 was created based on doctor’s requirements from burn treatment centre in University hospital Ostrava, where ultrasound skin measuring is used for objective evaluation of success rate of the new method – lipoaugmentation of hypertrophic scars.
