Abstract

The diploma thesis ‘The Expectations versus Successfulness of Retraining Programmer’s Participants in the Hodonín District’ aims to compare the expectations and conceptions of retraining participants with their subsequent success and failures. The retraining is approached as a tool of active employment policy and a form of lifelong learning here. The labour market is presented in the district of Hodonín and its retraining programmes, the actual course of retraining, its funding as well as the individual projects. The principal part examines the expectations of the retraining participants by means of questionnaire surveys, and their expectations are compared with their success afterwards. The initial assumptions and the reality were compared with respect to job placement within 12 months following the retraining, the length of their registration at the employment office after the course, and according to the job applicants’ sex, education and age. The research of the previous chapters is concluded by proposals and recommendations which might be beneficial in the efforts to implement retraining courses. The recommendations particularly target at women on parental leave, graduates, and unskilled labourers.
