Abstract

In this work the practical use of nanotechnologies in wastewater treatment in sewage treatment plants is dealt with. Nanotechnology in the form of membranes and nanoparticles (nanoiron) have applications within waste water treatment process. The thesis includes all phases of waste water treatment. From the mechanical filtration, through the biological treatment and chemical treatment to the last filtration. The process of waste water treatment is based on the removal of unwanted substances (toxins) and pathogens that can not be mechanically removed, but with the help of nanomaterials they can so that the water can be returned back to the environment. In the area of construction of wastewater treatment plants there is the company ASIO Ltd, of which work with nanotechnologies moves wastewater treatment a step forward. It focuses particularly on nanofiltration and employment of nanoiron to disinfect water.
