Abstract

This thesis deals with the design and implementation of a communication interface enabling the integration of the BACnet protocol into the ABB 800xA control system. Since the 800xA system does not natively support BACnet, the solution is based on the use of an intermediary in the form of the OPC UA protocol. The thesis analyzes available communication approaches, in particular integration via KepServerEX, the ABB AC500 control unit, and other possible variants. It includes the creation and testing of pilot projects that verify the possibilities of data transfer between BACnet and the 800xA system. The result is an evaluation of the benefits of individual solutions in terms of functionality, limitations, costs, and suitability for practical deployment.
