Evaluation of the China’s Bond Market Development

Abstract

Bond market is an important component of China’s financial market and has played an increasingly important role in the Chinese economic development over recent years. This thesis focuses on the evaluation of the present situations and future trends in China’s bond market development. First, the main characteristics of bond market are briefly introduced in terms of the definition and classification, function, regulatory system and trading mechanism. On this basis, the development history, the market structure, regulatory system and trading mechanism of the Chinese bond market are briefly stated. The overall market size, recent years’ innovations and development trends of China’s bond market are analyzed and evaluated from the perspective of the total issuance and outstanding amount, trading activity, the market system improvement, the investor structure optimization, the asset securitization development and the internationalization of China’s bond market. After more than sixty years of development, the Chinese bond market has made great progress. The overall market size has expanded rapidly over recent years. The Chinese bond market currently is the world’s third largest bond market only after the U.S. and Japan. Of course, China’s bond market remains an emerging market with various problems to be solved, but it is full of vitality and with the further development of the Chinese economy, would have broad prospects.
