Abstract

Each sensory irritation results in a response which is spread by nerve pathways to the brain where it is processed. By using non-invasive examination of evocated potentials, we try to explore the functionality of the nervous system with the help of stimulus. The examination is used when we assume malfunction of hearing, visual or somatosensory nerve pathways. Finding any damaged area or cause of damage helps doctors determine the diagnosis and subsequent treatment. In my work I deal with evocated potentials which give us summary ipsilateral responses to intensive sound. The evocated potentials are vestibular evocated myogenic potentials. The test tells us if the anterior vestibular nerve, saccule and vestibular nerve pathways work correctly. My Bachelor's thesis is focused on the right finding and setting of technical parameters for a measurement of vestibular evocated myogenic potentials, and my work with the device ICS Chartr EP 200.
