Abstract
This thesis deals with the design and implementation of the software for the sound device based on a microcomputer with a digital signal processor and its ALSA device driver for the Linux system on a connected minicomputer. The sound device can receive digital audio data also in a compressed form and decode it during playback. The thesis contains the comparison of the data decompression on the Linux side against the decompression in the sound device.
