Abstract

This thesis deals with sampling and preparation of samples from a real fire residues and smoke chamber at the Technical Institute of Fire Protection. These real and simulated samples were subjected to the same methods of treatment (sonication) prior to subsequent laboratory analysis, which resulted in the measurement of the amount of PAH (s) in a sample of material. The results were compared and their predictive value was the basis for determining the appropriateness of the use of different methods of sampling. It was found that the technique of direct sampling and scrape method with chemically modified cotton tampons are more effective and conclusive.
