Abstract

The theme of this diploma thesis may be easily found in fulfilling the significance of a historical center of a town. Finding a new identity of such a place is of importance because of its original function which was based on a defense of the town.The most prominent, however underestimated part of this area is House of Arts. Unfortunately, this building does not support the development of culture these days. Simultaneously, it still has the status of quite a big and unoccupied place in the center. And so alteration for cultural activities seems to be justifiable. The plan presented tries to respect those issues. The concept consists of independent buildings, each of which has its atrium or hall – actually their center. Conception of this diploma thesis gradually follows urban importance of the town and of the location. It proposes not only suitable urban structure but also in detail of public places. It follows then to a plan of the House of Arts and to a detail of interior.
