Ekotoxikologické testy pro strusky

Abstract

Landfilling of wastes lead to the release of various pollutants into the environment. One of these wastes are metallurgical slags, which are generated as by-products in the processing of metal ores. Even though slags are widely used, for example, in construction industry, many of them end up in landfills. Slags can release toxic substances into the environment. The potential effects of these toxic substances are determined using ecotoxicological bioassays. In this bachelor's thesis, a toxicity test on the luminescent bacteria Vibrio fischeri after effect time of 15 and 30 minute was evaluated for a total of 6 aqueous leachates obtained from two grain sizes (<4 mm a <10 mm) of slags from iron and steel production. The toxicity test included the calculation of EC10, EC20 and EC50 values. According to the toxic unit TU for Vibrio fischeri, individual aqueous leachates were classified into the appropriate toxicity class. Part of this thesis was also the evaluation of the results of chemical analysis of aqueous leachates, XRFS and determination of total carbon and sulphur.
