Abstract

This bachelor thesis assesses the importance of air conditioning and mechanical cooling in OKD mines. It describes in detail machine cooling of DZ1, Darkov locality, including the description of machinery and the cooling principle for the 9th area of the Darkov mine. First, I calculated the prognosis of microclimatic conditions for the coalface No. 40 902 without machine cooling using TPCL calculating program. After evaluating the parameters of the microclimatic conditions in the coalface, I suggested a method to cool down the mine winds, and number and location of the coolers. I recalculated the microclimatic conditions including machine cooling and evaluated the efficiency of machine cooling for the given coalface. The calculations showed that coalface No. 40 902 could not be mined without mechanical cooling due to unfavorable microclimatic conditions. After designing the machine cooling and recalculating the given conditions, there was a significant improvement in all parameters determining the microclimate, resulting in possibility to mine the coalface even without safety breaks at work. Using the air conditioning could create a favorable working environment with efficient use of working hours and without economic losses due to unfavorable microclimate conditions. This confirms the necessity of deploying machine cooling and the importance of air conditioning in mine workplaces.
