Abstract

This bachelor thesis covers the comparison of several well-known methods of longwall screening used at Ostravsko-karvinské doly (further on referred to as OKD only) until ca 2005 and of the newly implemented methods based on the need of quicker and safer screening of modern longwall sets. The new equipment sets need to be considered capital expenditure which is fully used and brings maximum payback and profits only if operated in a longwall panel. The thesis is mapping the gradual development of different screening and equipment move methods in view of the shortest downtime of longwall equipment possible.

The thesis describes the artificial roof installation technique for methods which are not used anymore and the most state-of-the-art longwall screening procedures. It also stipulates first experience with their use including the methods to develop and support the handling channel used for recovery of the full longwall equipment sets including powered supports. The thesis includes an assessment and comparison of individual methods with the recommendation of their application in certain conditions.
