Abstract
The goal of this work was to determine the corrosion and tribocorrosion characteristics of AISI 304 VAR, AKV Extra S, TMA and NiTi alloys that are used in the orthodontic applications. Corrosion behaviour was determined via potentiodynamic polarization test in a Fusayama artificial saliva. Tribocorrosion tests were carried out only on the NiTi samples of the same composition as in the case of the orthodontic wire (58.35 wt. % Ni, 41.65 wt. % Ti). The corrosion resistance was pursued by specific polarization resistance that was determined by the electrochemical impedance measurement.
