Abstract
The thesis deals with perception of corruption in the construction industry with subsequent comparison of the situation in the Czech Republic and in Germany. Corruption is considered to be a commonly occurring and increasingly expanding phenomenon today, and especially the construction industry is considered as an industry very susceptible to corruption behaviour. The first part of the thesis is focused on defining corruption, forms of corruption, causes and consequences of corruption behaviour, and possibilities of corruption measurement. The second part of the thesis deals with characteristics of the construction industry and legislation applicable to it, including possibilities of occurrence of corruption in awarding public contracts. The final part of the thesis describes a research of perception of corruption in the construction industry in both countries performed by means of a questionnaire survey, sums up its results, and suggests some recommendations.
