Abstract

This master thesis deals with the design of a new object of Moravian-Silesian scientific library in Silesian Ostrava and its continuing public space. The area has a potential to become an important cultural point because of its location. The locality is situated in the outskirts of the historic city center of Ostrava, next to the Office of the municipal district of Ostrava - Silesian Ostrava, opposite the Sýkora´s bridge. It was difficult to solve the foundation of the building on a difficult sloping and undermined area as well as the busy highway Bohuminska which separated the area from Moravian Ostrava. The aim of this thesis was to build an institution which could create a communication bridge between Moravian Ostrava and Silesian Ostrava. The institution and its surroundings will create space of urban character.
