Abstract

ABSTRACT Subject: Comparision of competitiveness in banking system in the Czech and Slovak Republic The main task of this thesis is to compare competitiveness of the banking field in Czech and Slovak Republic. Then to establish the system environment with help of indexes of competitiveness, to review reached results and to compare the level of competition of banking sectors in both countries. The theoretical part focuses on factors which influence the banking sector, the developement of the banking systems in former Czech and Slovak federal republic and it's developement after the separation of these two countries. There are also defined basic terms and general conditions of the competition. In the practical part we picked certain indexes of market competition to define level of the competition. Based on these indexes the level of total assets market, loan market and deposits market in both bank sectors was counted. Each result was reviewed in the thesis. In the end of the practical part the level of competitiveness on given market is compared. According to reached results we can say that in both banking sectors enough competition has effect. It also prevents the dominating position of one bank on the market. In Czech banking sector we can notice higher rate of competition than in Slovakian banking sector.
