Abstract

In recent years, one of the greatest challenges for humanity has become the disposal and use of municipal waste with an emphasis on their material and energy use. Very valuable commodities in this respect are ferrous and non-ferrous metals, which can be effectively recycled and subsequently used primarily in the metallurgical. Magnetic separation can be defined as a technological process in which ferromagnetic parts are separated from non-magnetic parts under the influence of an electromagnet or permanent magnet. The diploma thesis explains the process of separation of metal from municipal waste in the company OZO Ostrava. Two separation lines are described in detail, with an emphasis on the characterization of all used separators and obtained data from the separation process.
