Abstract
This bachelor thesis is focused on an overview of the possibilities of pulverized coal injection (PCI) into the blast furnace (BF). PCI technology is process of injection the grinding dry powdered coal at large amount directly into the blast furnace through the blowing system and injection lances located at the tuyeres with the using of transport gas (mainly nitrogen).Pulverised coal provides a corresponding carbon source, also accelerates the production of liquid hot metal, and mainly reduces the consumption of the metallurgical coke for blast furnace reactions.
This thesis deals with the basic operation of PCI technology and also with blast furnace operations without PCI technology due to planned repairs, shutdowns and controls - so BF operation with 100% charging of metallurgical coke, as well as control options of pulverized coal injection during the phase of unexpected breakdowns or accidents on blast furnace or coal grinding mill aggregate.
