Abstract
The kaolinite/ZnO nanocomposite with 50 wt. % of ZnO was prepared using simple hydrothermal method by reaction between kaolinite and zinc oxide. Calcination of the nanocomposite led to the kaolinite - metakaolinite phase transformation. The nanocomposites were studied using X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy, X-ray powder diffraction and photocatalytic activity. The photocatalytic activity was evaluated by the discoloration of Acid Orange 7 under UV irradiation. The reproducibility of synthetized nanocomposites was investigated. The dependence of the friction coefficient on temperature and abrasion resistence of metakolinite/ZnO composite was tested.
