Abstract

This thesis deals with the study of the importance and connectivity of selected landscape elements of karst platforms in the Moravian Karst Protected Landscape Area. To evaluate the condition, the molluscs were selected as a group of organisms with a very close link to the environmental conditions they inhabit. The work consisted of the inventory and evaluation of molluscs species composition and the analysis of environmental factors influencing the occurrence of molluscs in selected landscape elements of karst platforms. The main objective was to evaluate the connectivity of landscape elements. The research was carried out on the Ostrovská and Harbešská platform in the Moravian Karst PLA. There were forty-nine sampling areas where the samples were taken and where there were described selected environmental factors (type of landscape segment and element, vegetation coverage, presence of fallen wood and stone debris, type of matrix, landscape element area and distance to biocentre). According to the results of the study, the way of farming in the immediate surroundings of the landscape elements of the studied area has a significant influence on their connectivity. It has been shown that where the matrix forms a permanent grassland among the landscape elements, the connectivity for the target group of animals is good. On the contrary, where the matrix is arable soil, the occurrence of molluscs in the landscape elements is almost minimal. Due to the unsatisfactory state of the connectivity of the landscape elements on Harbešská platform, there is included a proposal for measures to optimize the ecological conditions in this project. The aim of the proposal is an increasing of local biodiversity, protection of underground areas from washing away of topsoil and reducing of disposition to water and wind erosion of the soil. In the final consequence the realized proposal should contribute to a longer water conservation in the landscape.
