Možnosti odstraňování vybraných farmak v odpadních vodách

Abstract

This thesis deals with the removal of selected pharmaceutical substances from wastewater. The main objective was to identify and determine the concentrations of six different pharmaceuticals (candesartan, irbesartan, valsartan, metoprolol, diclofenac and metformin), the sweetener sucralose and caffeine in samples of wastewater from the urban mechanical-biological wastewater treatment plant (hereinafter WWTP). Subsequently, ultraviolet (UV) radiation, ozonation (O3) and adsorption on granular activated carbon (GAU) and their combinations (UV/GAU and O3/GAU) were used to remove these substances from the wastewater. The procedure involved the collection of wastewater samples from the WWTP, their filtration and subsequent determination of the concentrations of the selected substances by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The wastewater was then subjected to one of the removal methods, and changes in the concentrations of the drugs, sucralose and caffeine were monitored.
