Abstract

My master’ s thesis is primarily focused on information modeling of buildings, especially in connection with the application of this method to existing building of university nursery school. The operational phase, or in other words, the phase of using an object, is a phase that can last for decades or hundreds of years. During this time, the building changes its appearance, function, owner or technological equipment many times. Above all, the object manager must respond to these changes, and BIM seems to be a very useful tool that can make facility management processes more efficient. Interest in the wider use and implementation of BIM in projects can be seen not only in the private sector. Even the state administration is already taking the necessary steps to ensure that the concept of BIM is firmly anchored in legislation and subsequently applied in public procurement processes. Therefore, on the following pages I will try to clearly describe the situation and events around information modeling in the private and public sectors with an overlap in facility management and urban planning.
