Abstract

The subject of this thesis is the design and conceptualization of a new ceremonial hall at the New Cemetery in Žilina. This project encompasses the creation of a space for approximately 100 people, the development of the ceremonial hall, and also considers the long-term evolution of the cemetery over the next 500 years. The architectural study will include areas for traditional and urn graves, a sowing meadow with a columbarium, and spaces for natural burial in the woods and meadows. The thesis will culminate in an architectural study of the ceremonial hall, along with a conceptual design for the future development of the New Cemetery in Žilina. This comprehensive solution aims to serve as an inspiration for preserving the dignity and efficiency of burial rituals and promoting the sustainable development of the cemetery for decades to come.
