Abstract
This thesis deals with the implementation of a real electrical power steering and steering column control unit into a vehicle simulation model. The thesis starts with a theoretical investigation focusing on the design of electric power steering systems for passenger vehicles. In the second part, the messages and signals sent or received by the selected control units and the links of the selected components to other vehicle systems are analyzed. The third chapter deals with the creation of the mechanical stand that is used for the placement of the selected components. Subsequently, the adaptation of the other systems in the simulation model with respect to the links to the implementation of the real components is described. The fifth chapter describes the creation of simulation models of the steering column and electric power steering control units. The graduate student then performed experimental verification of the system functionality within his thesis and presents the results obtained.
