Abstract
The goal of diploma thesis is analysis of financial supervision and regulation development in Czech Republic from 1990 to the present and evaluation of the current regulatory and supervisory framework in the EU, which directly affects the Czech financial sector, and answering to the question of whether the newly created rules of financial regulation were set to prevent or at least mitigate the occurrence of new financial crises. First the essence and purpose of financial regulation and supervision and possible institutional arrangements are defined. Next chapters deal with clarification of the development process of regulation and supervision in Czech Republic during the years 1990-2006 in various financial sectors, description of the financial integration process in Czech financial market and current setting of financial regulation and supervision in the country. Essential is to analyze trends and objectives of a European financial supervision. Aspects for the efficient operation of the newly created Europen System of Financial Supervisor and the impact of financial sector taxation are evaluated.
