Abstract

The main aim of this thesis is to describe and analyze the four most important economic factors in the development of juvenile delinquency in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in the monitored period 2007-2016. The secondary aim of the thesis is to evaluate the structure of total youth crime and the level of safety in terms of youth crime intensity in the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic for the period 2007-2016. The work deals with the definition of concepts related to the problem solved, as well as with the factors influencing the criminality of the youth. In the practical part of the thesis, based on a simple regression, the relationship between juvenile delinquency and youth unemployment, gross domestic products, inflation and security spending and public order in both states are analyzed separately. The most important factor in the development of juvenile delinquency in the Slovak Republic is expenditure on security and public order, and the most influential factor in the Czech Republic is the gross domestic product. The crime rate index is calculated as a higher level of youth crime in the conditions of the Slovak Republic. The conclusion of the work includes the overall findings on youth crime and legislative proposals that should aim to improve the international comparison of juvenile delinquency.
