Abstract

An Apartment Building with the Possibility to Accommodate Seniors and a Nanotechnology Laboratory. This thesis focuses on the revitalization of the worker’s colony Pokrok in its current state, which would be the opposite of the so-called satellite towns. The housing is based on good-neighborly relations, where residents deal with the events happening around their home rather than avoiding them. Instead, they attempt to center these events around shared activities that happen both in their home and in a large garden, which serves recreational as well as practical purposes such as growing fruits and vegetables. The aim of this thesis is a building proposal for a stable, sustainable, and ecologically oriented area of new and existing buildings. The specific result of this thesis is a design of a new type of apartment buildings with the possibility to accommodate seniors, and the design of a nanotechnology laboratory, which should focus on the development of local agriculture connected to aquaponics, but also on regional issues regarding water, air, and soil pollution.
