Abstract

The goal of this thesis is the evaluation of surface defects from tension - specifically veining defect. The aim of the thesis is to propose a methodology for the assessment of such defects in castings by appropriate means. This work is divided into two parts – theoretical and practical. The theoretical part, contains a description of mold sand mixtures with silica sand, their influence on the occur-rence of defects from the tension. Further description of the defects in castings from alloys of iron, with a particular focus on surface defects, especially to veining defects. The second part is devoted to practical part of the thesis. It describes the design meth-odology for assessing the occurrence of veining on the surface of the cylindrical surfaces of castings and the evaluation of the individual types of silica sand with different content of binder on the emergence of these defects from the tension.
