Abstract

The aim of this bachelor’s thesis was to create a bronze casting that would also function as a lamp. The concept is based on the Greek myth of Prometheus. The project combines the art of the ancient world with the technical revolution of the modern era. In the theoretical part, I brought together a wide range of topics — from mythology and the history of Ancient Greek art to 20th-century modernism. I also focused specifically on the theory and technical aspects of lamps and lightbulbs within the context of industrial design. In the practical part, I described the entire creative process — from a 2D sketch to the final casting. Many stages are covered, including 3D modeling, scanning, 3D printing, bronze casting using a plaster mold, and the final processing of the casting and installation of the lightbulb.
