Abstract

This thesis deals with the design and implementation of a bidirectional galvanically isolated DC-DC converter for battery balancing applications. The first part provides an overview of available converter topologies and their properties. Based on this analysis, the Dual Active Bridge topology is selected and described in detail. In the practical part, the converter is designed and implemented, including the power stage, control system, and measurement circuits. The functionality of the device is verified through experimental measurements, focusing on the relationship between transferred power, current, efficiency, and phase shift. The results confirm the correct operation of the converter and its ability to transfer energy in both directions. The thesis also highlights the influence of parasitic effects and operating conditions on soft-switching behavior and overall efficiency.
