Abstract

This work deals with internal migration between regions in the Czech Republic and its impact on the labor market. The paper analyzed the determinants of migration, the impact of migration and empirical studies investigating this issue. The aim is to assess, on the basis of theoretical knowledge, using research literature and descriptive analysis that interregional migration serves as a tool for long-term equilibrium in the labor market. Determinants such as personal characteristics are affecting the migration. The most are moving young, educated and single people, this confirms the theory and empirical analysis. At the same time people leave economically less favorable region and migrate to the more developed region. This situation should lead to an equalization of differences between regions. The results of correlation analysis between economic variables and migration suggest, that internal migration acts as a tool for balancing of regional differences in the Czech Republic.
