Financování mládežnického ledního hokeje ve Statutárním městě Ostrava

Abstract

The thesis provides an assessment of funding youth ice hockey in the City of Ostrava in 2008 – 2012. The objective of this thesis is to assess funding options for ice hockey players in youth categories within selected hockey clubs in the City of Ostrava. The work consists of three thematic chapters, an introduction, and a conclusion. The second chapter describes the genesis of the sport in the Czech Republic and the politics of the sport in the Czech Republic and the European Union, while the importance and role of the sport in the Czech Republic are characterized here, as is the role of government authorities and other major stakeholders in this sport in the Czech Republic. The third chapter deals with selected stakeholders in ice hockey, where emphasis is given to analyzing both public and private financial resources, and the means for funding youth ice hockey. The fourth chapter offers a comparison of all funding resources and assessing them according to various criteria. The final section includes suggestions and recommendations by the author on other possible sources of funding for youth ice hockey.
