Abstract
The Competitiveness of Czech Republic and its Comparison with Other Visegrad Countries
The thesis aims to analyze the competitiveness of the Czech Republic and then compare it to the competitiveness of other countries of the Visegrad Group.
The second chapter of this thesis describes the definition of competitiveness and theoretical basis of competitiveness from the beginning to the present. Then, attention is focused on the concept of competitiveness in the European Union. Conclusion of the chapter is focused on evaluation of the competitiveness at the global level, which deal with two major international organizations.
The third chapter analyzes the competitiveness of Czech economy, which can be divided into five key areas: growth performance and stability, institutional quality, structural competitiveness, innovation capacity and quality of human resources. Further evaluation of the competitiveness of Czech economy is done from the perspective of the World Economic Forum and International Institute for Management Development. Conclusion of this chapter are compared from the two international organizations.
The fourth chapter is devoted to compare the competitiveness of the Visegrad countries. In the first part are mentioned basic information about the alliance, followed by analysis of the transformation process. Subsequently, an analysis of the macroeconomic fundamentals of the members of the Visegrad Group since the beginning of the transition to the present. Attention is also devoted to the Visegrad group from an international perspective. Conclusion of the chapter consists of the Czech Republic comparison with other countries of the Visegrad Group.
