Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on the design and implementation of a control unit for long-term monitoring and regulation of key physical-chemical water parameters. The theoretical part provides an overview of water as a physical-chemical system and describes the individual measured quantities – temperature, pH, total dissolved solids (TDS), dissolved oxygen, and turbidity – including their measurement principles and regulation options. Attention is also given to the calculation of carbon dioxide (CO2) concentration based on pH and carbonate hardness values. The practical part describes the design and implementation of a measurement system based on a combination of an Arduino Uno microcontroller and a Raspberry Pi 4 Model B single-board computer. The Arduino handles data acquisition from connected sensors and provides hysteresisbased regulation of temperature and CO2 dosing via relays. Measured values are transmitted through serial communication to the Raspberry Pi, where they are stored in a MariaDB database and displayed in a web interface developed in PHP, allowing monitoring of both current values and historical trends. The result is a functional prototype that can be used in aquaristics, hydroponic cultivation, or other applications requiring automated water quality management.
