Abstract

This engineer thesis covers the topic of gemstones in the Czech Republic. Described are the current mined deposits and the proportion of those gemstones in the mineral policy of our country. The part of thesis describes the historical development of the term ,,precious stones“ in the Czech legislative, but in the Czechoslovak literature as well. In the discussion are described the open questions of the legislative anchoring of the term ,,precious stones", and its integration into the group of reserved minerals. An important part of this thesis is the analysis of mineral stocks, mining and service life of the deposits of gemstones, which are found in the evidence of the Czech Republic. Separately are described the precious stones which occur on the territory of our state. Characterized by their mineralogical properties, listed is a description of the geology of the deposits of the most important gems of the Czech Republic: bohemian garnet, moldavite and less, opal, amethyst and quartz.
