Abstract

The diploma thesis is focused on the design and verification of the foundry method for the production of metal foams. This procedure should be sufficiently suitable and usable for normal foundry operations. The development of such a method is currently based on the fact that metal foams are increasingly becoming the subject of interest in a number of industrial areas (including other areas) in modern times, mainly due to their interesting combination of mechanical and physical properties. The subject of the thesis was a comparison of different types of molding compounds suitable for the production of precursors, which were further used for the production of metal foams. The work is divided into a theoretical and a practical part. The first half of the theoretical part pays attention to metal foams. Their definition, distribution according to individual parameters and production options. The next part deals with the definition, division and description of individual molding compounds. The practical part is focused on the production of cast metal foams with the help of precursors prepared from various types of molding compounds. In addition to the study of the properties of these mixtures used for the production of precursors, attention was paid to the production of metal foam castings and their properties.
