Abstract

The aim of the master thesis is to create an architectural study of Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library in Silesian Ostrava. This includes a plan of possible solution concerning the state of the surrounding public area. Based upon the architectural study, the non-urban part of Silesian Ostrava would be transformed into an urban area that would connect the two banks of the city of Ostrava. Additionally, an institution of region-wide importance would be established. The main aim was to design an object in a passive standard that uses the configuration of the surrouding terrain, orientation to cardinal directions, natural resources and modern technology to operate.
