Abstract

This bachelor's thesis deals with the analysis of the traffic situation at the intersection located on the branch of the Klimkovice interchange (D1 – II/647, exit 349, southern intersection). The main objective of this bachelor's thesis is to evaluate the current state of traffic and to propose measures that would lead to an increase in traffic flow and safety. As part of the practical part of the thesis, a traffic engineering survey was carried out, including a video analysis of conflict situations. Based on the analysis, an information was obtained about traffic intensity, traffic flow structure and vehicle directional guidance. Based on the data acquired, two main versions of the intersection modification were proposed. The first version came out as less expensive solution consisting of changes to traffic signs and traffic calming measures, while the second version involves rebuilding the intersection into a roundabout. Both versions were subjected to a thorough assessment in terms of their effectiveness and contribution to traffic flow and safety. In the final part of the thesis, simulation models of traffic were created using the PTV VISSIM software, which enabled a more detailed analysis of the proposed solution and its impact on traffic in this location. A short part of the thesis also deals with another possible solution for this particular intersection.
