Abstract

The diploma thesis is focused on the research of possible risks related to hitchhiking, the decrease of their potential incidence, the proposal of effective defense and non-conflict behaviour. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part deals with the statutory instruments which are concerned with personal protection. It also describes a possible behaviour of offenders. In the practical part, self-defense techniques are described such as performing punch maneuvers to the sensitive parts of human body as well as using technical elements of self-defense. Various alternatives for stopping a car from the passenger position are introduced, including the descriptions of particular car locking systems. Furthermore, the summary of police statistics in the period of 2006–2016 is presented. The thesis also covers the analysis of risks related to hitchhiking separately from the driver’s and hitchhiker’s point of view. The conclusion consists of proposals for risk decrease and non-conflict behaviour.
