Fyzická pripravenosť na výkon služby a VO2max

Abstract

The bachelor thesis dealt with the physical fitness tests for admission to the service of the Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic. The focus was on candidates for service who did not pass, or passed very narrowly, the physical fitness test. The VO2max value is indicative of a person's general health and how well prepared they are for physical exertion. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to find out the minimum VO2max value at which it is recommended to try to pass the physical fitness test to perform the service of the Fire Service of the Czech Republic. To find out the value, 9 respondents aged between 19 and 28 years (22.0±3.6) underwent tests equivalent to actual physical fitness tests. The selection of respondents was based on a previously established relationship with exercise. The range of respondents was from not exercising at all to highly athletic. Measurement of VO2max was provided by a Garmin fenix 3 wrist smart watch and a Garmin HMR4 chest strap. As part of the measurement, 3 tests were performed. Two tests of strength nature and one of endurance nature. It started with tests of strength, push-ups and sit-ups. This was followed by an endurance test, a 2,000 meter run. The measured values of the tests were then added to the scores according to the tables of physical fitness tests of the Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic. The measured values and scores were then compared with VO2max in a linear regression function and correlation plot. The VO2max value showed a strong correlation with the whole body fitness test. The VO2max value has a very strong direct dependence on the total score obtained (r = 0.895). Of the tests, the VO2max value showed the strongest correlation for the endurance test, the 2,000-meter run (r = -0.907). For test 1, push-ups, the VO2max value had a very strong direct dependence (r = 0.808). With test 2, sit-ups, the VO2max value showed the weakest correlation between the tests (r = 0.617). Comparison of the measurement results and their scores with the minimum requirements for admission to the service of the Fire Service of the Czech Republic showed that the minimum VO2max value for passing the tests was 51 ml/kg/min. According to the respondents answers, one should exercise at least 2.59 times a week, with one exercise lasting at least 30 minutes.
