Abstract

Postoperative observations of bone ingrowth into porous orthopaedic implants presented in several references provide some experience about requirements for microstructure of implants, but it is still lack of the criteria of structural-adaptive compatibility of the bone-implant fixation based on the modern two-phase poroelastic biomechanical model of bone tissue. In this part of the paper, the indentification of the parameters characterizing the poroaccessibility of porous coatings for bone ingrowth is presented. There is proposed the method of estimation of these parameters with use of three dimensional roughness measurements. The parameters of poroaccessibility of porous coatings are proposed as an evaluation of the structural-adaptive compatibility of bone-implant interface, on the basis of the two-phase poroelastic biomechanical model of bone tissue.
