Abstract

The bachelor´s thesis named „Tourist Potential of the Municipality of Skalité“ deals with the level of the tourist industry development in the municipality of Skalité, as well as with the potential of its development for the future. The first part dealing with theory based on specialized literary sources provides an explanation of essential terms and notions relating to the tourist industry. With regard to the theoretical knowledge and the SWOT analysis, the thesis provides a description of the current status in the area of tourist industry in Skalité. The second, practical part, of the thesis conveys assessed judgements of the respondents inquired by means of a questionnaire. The research was realized directly in the municipality of Skalité inquiring a sample of permanent residents, as well as visitors coming to the municipality. With respect to the results and the information acquired in the research, the thesis offers suggestions and recommendations for the future development of the tourist industry in Skalité possibly leading to the improvement of the local economy.
