Abstract
This bachelor’s thesis deals with the design and evaluation of an energy system for an off-grid residential area without direct connection to the distribution grid. The aim of the thesis is to create an energy balance model based on renewable energy sources and energy storage, and to use this model to assess the level of self-sufficiency and the need for an external energy source. The first part of the thesis provides a brief introduction to off-grid systems, photovoltaic and wind power plants, and energy storage.
Subsequently, a model of electricity generation and a model of household consumption are developed, taking into account daily and seasonal profiles. These parts are followed by the design of a battery storage system, whose capacity and power are assessed in terms of peak load coverage, operational stability, and the ability to overcome periods of low energy production. The final part of the thesis evaluates the self-sufficiency of the proposed system and the requirements for a supplementary external energy source.
