Abstract

The aim of this work is to describe the transition from a centrally planned economy to a market economy. The first part focuses on the theoretical bases of economic transformation, the theoretical approaches which individual countries could follow, further privatization and restitution. The second part focuses on the negative and positive features of the Czechoslovak economy before the transformation. The following is familiar with the particular phase transformation in individual years. The third part deals with economic and historical development of Poland and Hungary together with the characteristics of the various stages of transformation in these countries. The main part is the end of the third part, which is further pursued the development of macroeconomic indicators in each year of transformation. The work focuses on the development of unemployment, inflation, GDP, external debt and ultimately for a more specific comparison of developments in foreign exchange reserves.
